Alphabet Adventure: W Week

Welcome to W week (though I’m blogging about it a week late!!)!  I really loved the family time that came out of W.  We took the kids with us to worship on Sunday morning.  Our church offers Sunday school for birth- sixth graders but our 1st-6th graders join the adults for the first part of the service.  I LOVE this.  Even though our kids are young, we try to expose the kiddos to corporate worship every now and then.  W was a perfect time to teach about and attend worship as a family.  After church we had a family “Work day!”  And boy did we work!  The boys did SO awesome as we all cleaned the house-top to bottom.  They dusted, cleaned toilets, moped, scrubbed tubs.  It was the most fun I have ever had cleaning, guaranteed.

We made watermelon wheels and had several W learning activities, matching cards, word games etc.  But my favorites were our “Dice Walk” and our “Watercolor Stationary.”  For our Dice Walk, we printed the die from Family Fun and went for it!  We walked for about a mile, all different directions and actually ended up at a great little park where we rode the see-saw & pretended to have “Wings” and made dinner with “Wood.”  It was Wonderful!!  For our craft, we experimented with liquid watercolors for the first time.  It turned out perfect….it was raining outside so we put the watercolors in spray bottles & took them outside and clipped white cards on our easel.  As we sprayed the cards, the rain blew in a bit and helped all the colors run together.  They turned out super cute & it was a really fun twist to normal painting!! The boys also had a special Star Wars marathon with their Grandpa Tom during Nate’s nap so we had a quitet house for a few hours, what is that??!! Enjoy all the W fun!
